Signing in
Enter your email address, then enter the code we send to it. The code field takes 6 digits, and spaces copied before or after the code are ignored.
If you typed your email wrong, choose Use a different email on the code screen. Your address stays filled in, so you only fix the mistake.
If the code does not arrive
Check your spam or promotions folder first, then check the address for a typo. Mail can take a couple of minutes to arrive.
On the website, Send a new code is greyed out for 60 seconds after each send and shows a countdown. Pressing it early does not use up an attempt, and the code we already sent still works.
If a code is refused, you will see: "That code is incorrect or has expired. Request a new one and try again." Wrong and expired codes get the same message on purpose. Ask for a new code and try again, and use the code from the newest email.
If you see "Too many attempts for this email. Please wait a little and try again." or "Too many attempts. Please wait a moment before trying again.", wait before you try again.
Your profile
Flare is for adults 18 and over. Your profile will not save if the date of birth you enter makes you younger than 18. If you are 18 or over and it will not save, check the year you typed.
Photos, prompts and location do not appear until you have saved your profile fields once: your name, date of birth and gender at a minimum. Save the form first, and the rest appears straight away.
If a photo will not upload on the website, try a JPEG or PNG. Photos straight from an iPhone camera roll are sometimes in a format the browser cannot read, and one that has been through Messages or AirDrop is usually re-encoded. In the app, a photo needs the photo permission, which you can turn on in your device settings.
Verify to open Discovery
Flare checks your ID so everyone here is a real person. You need to verify before Discovery and matches open. See Verification for what the check needs and what the results mean.
The app and the website are separate
Signing in on your phone does not sign you in on the website, and the other way round. This is expected, not a fault.
