The Flare safety guide

Open to connection. In control of you.

A connection should feel comfortable. Learn the tools, set your boundaries, and take things at your own pace.

Know your safety tools

If you are in immediate danger, contact your local authorities first. Flare is not an emergency service.

Small tools. Important boundaries.

You decide what feels right for you.

  • Identity checks

Verify with your NIN or driver's licence. Your identification stays off your public profile.

  • Privacy choices

Choose what you share on your profile, download a copy of your data on the website, or delete your account.

  • Block and report

Stop unwanted contact and report a profile or a message that concerns you.

When something feels off, you have options.

  • Block

Stop further contact from that member.

  • Unmatch

End a dating connection you no longer want to continue.

  • Report

Tell Flare what happened and choose a reason. A report confirms receipt, not an immediate outcome.

    • Harassment or bullying
    • Threats or violence
    • Inappropriate photos or content
    • Fake profile or impersonation
    • They appear to be under 18
    • Scam or spam
    • Photos look AI-generated
    • Something else

Taking it offline

A little care goes a long way.

Meet in a public place, let someone you trust know your plans, and take your time. Don't send money or share sensitive personal details with someone you've just met.

Verification is one safety signal. It does not guarantee a person's intentions.

Good to know

More ways we look out for you.

  • If it involves a child

If someone appears to be under 18, report them and choose They appear to be under 18. Do not send screenshots of images.

  • Share My Date

From your conversation with a match, send someone you trust a link with your date's first name and the place you typed in, plus your own phone number if you add it. No photos, no profile, no location. It stops working after four hours.

  • If you think we got it wrong

Email support@myflaredating.com and tell us what happened. There is no appeal button in the app yet. A person reads that mailbox.
