The Flare help guide

Safety and reporting

You can report or block someone from inside the app, and you can share where you are going on a date with someone you trust.

Report someone

Open their profile, or your conversation with them, and tap Report or block. In a conversation it is at the top of the screen, not on each message. On the website, tap ⋯ on their profile or at the top of your conversation, then choose to report or block them. If someone has liked you and you can see your likes, their card there has Report or block too.

You choose a reason:

  • Harassment or bullying
  • Threats or violence
  • Inappropriate photos or content
  • Fake profile or impersonation
  • They appear to be under 18
  • Scam or spam
  • Photos look AI-generated
  • Something else

You can report, block, or do both at once. Reporting takes a copy of the relevant messages at that moment, so the report still stands even if they delete their account afterwards.

A report raises an alert to a monitored mailbox, and a person reads it, not a bot. We do not promise a response time. The app says: "Thanks — we review reports and take action where warranted."

If you have sent a lot of reports, you may see: "You've sent a lot of reports recently. Please try again a bit later." The report was not filed, so try again later.

If you cannot reach the app, email support@myflaredating.com with the display name shown on the profile, what happened, and a screenshot if you have one.

If it involves a child, or someone who appears to be under 18, do not send screenshots of images. See our Child Safety Standards.

If you are in immediate danger, contact your local authorities first. Flare is not an emergency service.

Block someone

When you block someone, they won't see your profile and can't message you. They won't be told. Neither of you can see the other in Discovery, your matches or your conversations.

Blocking hides your conversation. It does not delete it, and it comes back if you unblock them. To unblock, go to Matches, then Blocked, choose Show, then Unblock. The Blocked list only appears when you have blocked someone.

Unmatch

Unmatch is in the conversation. It ends your match and hides the conversation for both of you. You won't be able to message each other there again, and you won't see each other in Discovery for at least 7 days. The other person does not get a notification.

Share My Date

In a conversation, beside Report or block, you can send one trusted contact a link to a page about your date. That person does not need a Flare account.

The page shows your date's first name, the place you typed, when the link stops working, and, only if you add one, your own phone number as a tap-to-call link. It never shows a photo, a profile, a location or coordinates, a message, an email address or a link back into the app.
