In the Flare app
On an iPhone you buy through Apple's In-App Purchase, and on Android you buy through Google Play. Apple or Google bills and processes the payment, and Flare never sees or stores your card details for that purchase.
A membership bought this way renews automatically for the same period and at the same price until you turn auto-renewal off.
The price and what each membership includes are shown to you in the app before you pay.
Cancelling a store membership
The fastest way to cancel is always the store's own settings: your Apple ID account settings, or your Google Play subscriptions settings.
- App Store: this is the only way. Flare cannot cancel an App Store subscription for you, and neither the app nor our support address can reach one. Apple's deadline is at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Google Play: cancelling in Google Play yourself stops the renewal at once, and you keep access to the end of the period you have paid for. You can also ask us at support@myflaredating.com to cancel on your behalf. We publish no turnaround time for that, and it does not stop the renewal at once the way cancelling yourself does.
Each store sets its own deadline, so check the store's settings for the one that binds you.
On the website
Where Flare sells a membership on its website, the payment is processed by our payment provider, Paystack. Flare never receives or stores your card number. Prices are shown in Nigerian naira, and the price shown is the price you are charged.
A membership bought on the website is a single payment for a single period. It does not renew automatically. When the period you paid for ends, your membership ends and you are not charged again. There is nothing to cancel and nothing to switch off. If you want to carry on, you buy another period.
The Android app says to manage my membership in Google Play, but I paid on the website. If you bought a membership on the website, older versions of the app say that to everyone. Where you bought it decides where it is managed, and Google Play has no record of a website purchase.
Refunds
Where you bought your membership decides how a refund works.
- Apple: the refund decision is Apple's alone. You request it from Apple, through your purchase history or Apple's report-a-problem page.
- Google Play: you have two routes. You can request a refund from Google through Google Play's order history and support, or you can ask us at support@myflaredating.com. A refund on its own does not end a subscription, so if you want it to stop as well, say so when you write to us.
- Website: the refund decision is ours. Ask us at support@myflaredating.com.
We look at each request individually and do not promise a fixed refund window.
If you delete your account
Cancel first, in the store, before you delete. On the App Store, deleting your Flare account does not stop Apple billing you. On Google Play, we try to cancel the renewal when you delete your account, but we cannot guarantee it. A membership bought on the website needs no cancelling.
A free account's daily limits
A free account has a daily allowance of likes, of undone passes and of chat messages. A day runs from midnight to midnight, Lagos time, wherever you are, and what you do not use does not carry over.
- Likes: 20 on the first day you use a free like, then 10 a day.
- Undoing a pass: up to 5 a day.
- Chat messages: one a day, counting every message you send, including replies. On the Flare website this limit applies now. In the Flare app it applies from the app version that includes it; earlier versions of the app do not limit how many messages you send in a day.
A like that fails to send does not use up your allowance, and a message that is refused is not sent and does not use up your allowance. A paid membership has no daily limit on likes, undone passes or messages.
The full terms are in the Terms of Service.
